What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is based on the simple truths that your body is designed to self-heal, self-regulate and is constantly striving for optimal health. The regulation and restoration of every cell, tissue, organ and system in your body is coordinated by the constant communication between your brain and body. Every function of your body relies on clear communication via your nerve system. What protects your nerve system? Your spine. The spine is a dynamic structure and the most common site of tension and stress on your nervous system. Chiropractors look to the spine to restore areas of stress causing interference to the communication between your brain and body, thereby allowing you to heal, adapt and regenerate to a new and better state of health.
What health issues can chiropractic help with?
Here at
Advanced Health Chiropractic, we have been able to help many people with various health challenges. We know that the nervous system controls and coordinates all functions of the body, so if it isn’t working well…we don’t work well. Our bodies will express this in many different ways; headaches, poor posture, aches and pains, limited motion, lack of energy, immune compromise, poor sleep, mood swings, sluggish digestion,…the list goes on. By addressing dysfunction and areas of stress in the spine, better structure is achieved, therefore better nerve system function, which for you means better overall health. Popular belief tells us that people think they have to have a symptom or condition to see a chiropractor. Chiropractic is for people who have a spine, nervous system and a desire to reach their FULL health potential, now and for a lifetime.
What causes these interferences between my brain and body?
We live our lives through our nervous system. Think of all your senses that allow you to interact with the world day-in, day-out. There is a lot of information going in and responses going out…most of them we don’t consciously think about. We are all a product of our environment and our experiences and these accumulate over time. Do you think it is possible that our health and wellbeing can be compromised when we don’t efficiently deal and adapt to the various stressors in our life?
- Physical Stress- the birth process, learning to walk, repetitive motions, car accidents, slips, falls, poor posture habits.
- Emotional Stress – stress, family conflict, grief, worry, fear, anxiety, work stress.
- Chemical Stress- alcohol, drugs, medications, food additives, caffeine, dehydration and pollution.
What does the chiropractor do?
The body shares an unequivocal story…we just need to know how to listen.
Chiropractors are specialists in assessing the spine and nerve system for dysfunction. Once located and anaylsed we carry out specific adjustments to restore proper spine and nerve system function which results in facilitating a new state of health.
Each chiropractor at Advanced Health Chiropractic has a multitude of techniques to call on. We can use just our hands and sometimes a specialised instrument or table is utilised. Each patient is evaluated thoroughly to determine the appropriate technique that is going to bring them the most benefit.
Chiropractic is the only profession that specifically addresses the nerve system and its function, as its primary goal.
Who sees the chiropractor?
Chiropractic is for everybody.
Whether you are a baby, a child, a pregnant mum, an athlete or a seniors, the role of a family chiropractor is to address nerve interference in you.
I have heard chiropractors care for babies. Is this true and if so, why?
Absolutely! We recommend all children get checked post-birth as we believe a nerve system free of interference is the best start a baby could have.
In our experience babies that get checked are more successful breast feeders, are more settled, have less digestive complaints and have a more robust immune system. Our chiropractors are specifically trained to check and adjust newborns, babies, toddlers and children.
How often will I need to come?
This will vary with each person, depending on how long you have had the problem, your previous health history, any trauma or accidents and many other factors. After the chiropractor has performed an assessment, they will be able to tell you how frequently you need to have care. It may be starting with two visits a week initially and continue for a number of weeks, or less frequently depending on the above factors. Many of our people continue with chiropractic care to maintain general wellness and improved quality of life.
How much will it cost?
Our focus is to improve the health of our people and the community so our fees are fair, reasonable and in line with others in the industry. We value the health of our people and do not want you to miss out on opportunities to maximise your health so we have come up with different care plan options.
Will ACC cover my chiropractic care?
You can come directly to us for chiropractic care in the case of an injury. If your injury or pain is the result of an accident, your care may well be subsidised by ACC. Advanced Health Chiropractic is a registered ACC provider and we work with ACC in the best interest of our people.
Is chiropractic care safe?
YES! Chiropractic has been around since 1895 and there are numerous scientific studies demonstrating the efficacy of chiropractic care. Many millions of people universally, have and continue to receive the benefits of chiropractic care. Chiropractic is the only profession that specifically addresses the nerve system and spine. All registered chiropractors complete a 5 year extensive program of study and are required to complete ongoing study to ensure we practice safely and effectively.
I do not like the ‘cracking’ noise, what other techniques will suit me?
Chiropractic has a diverse array of techniques and our chiropractors are trained in these. We use gentle, safe adjustments and we can avoid the “cracking noise.” We cater for your individual needs and have gentle methods for your comfort.
